During Christmas period, Orvieto is full of lights and has a magical atmosphere: the city,home of the School of Italian Language and Culture Lingua Sì, comes alive with events and appointments. On 17th and 18th of December, Via della Costituzione helds a special edition for the Christmas market of handmade items, ceramics, glass, textiles, leather, paintings, and natural products.
On 26th of December, Torre San Severo is transformed into a living nativity scene, with
representations of the life of Jesus. From 28th of December 2011 to 1st of January 2012
Umbria Jazz Winter, the International Festival of Jazz, is back: internationally renowned
artists performing in the streets, squares, in the most evocative places of the city. Two
central appointments: the New Eve’s Year dinner and the peace concert of gospel singers in
the magnificent Cathedral in the afternoon of New Year’s Day. Last, but not least, from 23th
of December 2011 to 6th of January 2012 Orvieto hosts the Circuit of the Nativity, set up in
ten locations in the historic center, including the traditional Nativity in Pozzo della
Cava. Lingua Sì invites all students to discover the magic of Christmas in Orvieto, and
